...professional ballet company, the Paris Opera Ballet which was established later on. Since then, the ballet still has its own vocabulary based on French terminology.

The concert dance form ballet is a highly technical form of dance performed by professional artist. A ballet production consists of choreography and music, mostly combined with theatrical costumes and staging. Classical ballet styles are often associated with geographic origin, such as Russian ballet, French ballet and Italian ballet. Later styles are contemporary ballet and neoclassical ballet that also include non-traditional techniques and movements.

Perhaps the most widely known and performed ballet style is the Ballet blanc, the Romantic ballet. It focuses on female dancers, features flowing and precise movements and often presents female dancers in traditional short white tutus. The two most performed ballets are the Nutcracker and Swan Lake, both composed by Tchaikovsky.
